Justin started his professional career as design consultant, completing several projects certified to LEED Gold or better. Joining the City of Calgary, he spent time in both technical and management roles, including Coordinator of both Energy and Environment and plans examination teams and Manager of Customer Advisory Services, where he was responsible for intake and inquiries for permitting and business license. He has authored several works, including the development of the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB) and contributing volumes for both ASHRAE and BIM Canada publications. Now with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology as Strategic Advisor to the Green Building Technology group, he continues to work toward energy efficient and sustainable design objectives through project leadership and mentoring roles. In addition, he is a member of the Standing Committee for Energy Efficiency at the National Research Council and chairs several of the working groups supporting energy code development and implementation.
